Official Start of Summer

I haven't been blogging much lately. Work has been crazy busy and then add to that all the spring gardening chores (I've got a pile of mulch the size of a VW Beetle in my driveway), the house work, baseball practices, ballet, cooking, grocery shopping, doctor appointments... Ugh!

But I did want to show just one pick. My tree peonies are blooming two weeks earlier than usual this year. Here is the first bloom of the season. I have lots of bushes in all different colors, but this candy striped one is my favorite. I like to cut the blossoms and bring them inside because they fade quickly in the hot sun. As you can see tree peony blossoms are larger then traditional peonies. I put a Sharpie next to the vase so you could have an idea of how big these puppies are. One flower can make a whole bouquet by itself.

True beauty! Thanks for sharing. Our Peonies are just in bud...the size of a large gum ball. But when they bloom they are such a delight.

I loved seeing your gorgeous blossom.
so so pretty.
