Janet Saw - Yummy Jewelry

How cute are these caramel cream tart earrings by Janet Shaw! Ahh, jewelry and dessert, two of my favorite things. She's got all sorts of yummy jewelry on her Esty site. I want to gets me a pair, I just can't decide which dessert to order.

Lisa Lichtenfels' Sculptures

I've been a huge fan of Lisa Lichtenfels work for years. Her work is just stunning. The first time I saw photos of one of Lisa's sculptures I didn't believe they were made out of wire, batting and pantyhose. In fact I had trouble believing it was a sculpture at all it looked so real. Yep, that is pantyhose! When I saw her work in real life I still couldn't believe it. I even bought her books on soft sculpture techniques. I experimented a little bit but let's face it, this woman has more patience in her pinky toe than I have in my whole body.

Drawing from Life #2

So far, so good sticking to resolution #1. Hopefully I can fill up a sketch book this year. These are some random kids at Taekwondo class. It's a tough place to draw because they never stand still. BTW, the baby wasn't taking Taekwondo she was waiting for her big brother.

Jennifer Morris Beads

I love the beads made by Jennifer Morris. It's tempting to take credit for these lovely baubles but alas there are two of us in the world with the same fantastic name.

New Year Resolution #1 - Draw More from Life

Okay, I make this resolution every year. And every year, it falls to the bottom of my to-do list and I never seem to get around to it. But this year, I'm going to try my best. Even though most of what I draw isn't realistic, I think drawing details from life enlivens any illustration.

So here's my plan. I have, or should I say, my son has Taekwondo on Mondays for 1 hours and on Wednesdays my daughter has dance for 90 minutes. So even if I draw for those two times every week that's more than I did last year. At least I'm progressing in the right direction.

Here's my drawing from last week's ballet class. I eventually want to start going outdoors and doing some plein air work but it's January in New England, so for now, I think a warm Panera Bread sounds much more inviting.

Not Your Grandma's Needlepoint

I bet everyone has seen brick-a-brac at yard sales made from plastic needle point canvas. In face you may have a Kleenex box holder lurking in your house made by your aunt Bernice. And I have to admit I never gave needlepoint much thought. But I'm loving this Polaroid One Step camera created by Nicole Gastonguay. Ah, I loved my One Step camera when I was a kid. In fact, I just recently passed my One-Step down to a young friend and photography enthusiast who is still using it.

Check out the rest of Nicole's gallery. The jar of pickles (is that crochet?) is just too cute.

Don't Panic Annika is Now Available in the UK

"Don't Panic Annika" written by Juliet Clare Bell and illustrated by yours truly is now available on Amazon UK in hardcover and paperback. I was pleased when Piccadilly contacted me to illustrate this book because a story about a little worrier was near to my heart.

Unfortunately, the book isn't available in the US yet.

Here's a little peek at one of the inside illustrations...
